“Beloved Bette”
So this week...
I chopped 5 inches off of my hair……. yeah it is a lot healthier! We had a lesson with the Yanqoui family so that was good. We talked about the Holy Ghost and the importance of being worthy of His companionship.
We went to ACBC (the food pantry) which is always so much fun. It was Estella's 8th birthday. We called Yammah’s and spoke to her dad about receiving his permission for the girls to be baptized. He yelled at us on the phone and long story short told us that his daughters don't have permission to get baptized. So that was a big bummer. But, on the bright side Gladys is still on for November 7.
We also went on exchanges in Medicine Lake. I was with Sister Jacklin. It was a lot of fun. We were able to visit a couple of cute families. We also had Interviews with President Forbes. This was much needed by Sister Jolley and I. We were so happy to receive some counsel from President Forbes. Friday we had our Anoka Ward Halloween "Fall Festival”.  It was so much fun! We dressed up as cats and we had the Elders dress up as mice! People loved it!
Saturday we went to go see our dear Bette Rinke as usual. We found out she was put on hospice this week, so we were anxious to go see our sweet "Grandma Bette." When we walked into her room she wasn't sitting in her chair like she normally is. We heard the nurse call us into her room. We went in and saw our sweet little Bette sick in her bed. When we sat down and tried to talk to her the Spirit filled the room.  Sister Jolley and I shared precious time and precious conversations with our dear Bette. Even though she was so, so sick, in the clearest voice she said;   “What are you girls doing tonight?” “Knocking doors?” We laughed that we were what she was worried about! She was such a wonderful missionary. Everyone knew who the Sisters were, and they called us her "girls." I will forever cherish the visits I had with my cute Bette. I don't want to share much more, as I am holding the time, the visits and words with Bette very sacred. Sunday Morning our dear Elizabeth Irene Rinke "Bette" passed away. She was reunited with 2 of her 4 children and her husband. October 15, 1923 - October 25, 2015.  Remember to always “Choose the Right”.
Shout out to Dad for having his birthday! I love you so much Daddy! Thanks for being such an amazing father and example to me! Oh, and transfers... Sister Jolley is leaving….. L I am sooo sad! But, she is going to still be in our Zone. She will be serving as one of the STL’s!!! Sister Mortensen will be my new companion. I am excited to stay here in Anoka and to learn from my new companion.  Sister Jolley has taught me so much. Most importantly, Sister Jolley showed me how to strive to be like the Savior. She is committed to try to truly emulate Him at all times. I loved the time I was able to spend with her! I know we will stay buds forever.

"5 inches off"
Well, I am going to sign off. We are meeting the rest of our District to go bowling and to lunch.
Love you all, of course to Moonesota and back!

Hey Everyone!
First of all, some bittersweet news is that Gladys and Yammah didn't get baptized on Saturday. They chose to wait because they have family who are LDS in Africa that are moving to Minnesota on October 30, and so they want to wait for them to be there to support them. We feel it is okay though, because Estella is turning 8 this week, and she wants to be baptized with her Mom and Sister! It was really sad to have to tell Yammah the news that she would have to wait until November 7 (Ammon's 8th Birthday) to be baptized with her family. She cried, which broke our hearts! Luckily we held it together until we got to the car. Then, not so much!  We are so happy that they are taking it seriously and want their family to be there to support them on their special day. We are just praying that we both stay here for transfers which are October 28.... So keep us in your prayers. But, the Lord knows what is best, so even if we both were transferred it will be okay.
This week we had lunch with Muriel and she cooked some amazing wraps for us, then followed up with some fresh picked apples made into apple crisp :)  After we went with the Andover and Anoka Elders to do some service. We chose to rake leaves on a random street. It was really fun, but very windy so that made our job harder.
We then went to Bette Rinke's house for her 92nd Birthday with Bishop Petersen! It was so fun, he was able to administer the sacrament to her, and the spirit was SO STRONG. I was a puddle of tears! To see someone show so much gratitude and respect for something so many take for granted was truly a heartwarming experience.  It made me grateful for the sacrament and the true meaning behind it. As we each go through our weeks we should always remember the sacrament; the promises we made with God and renewed with Him each and every week.

We did the normal stuff this week as well. We had zone service on Friday which was fun. We went and helped clean up a farm. I fed the goats, the sheep and the cow.  I wasn't supposed to but they were looking at me, so I caved. We had a fireside with Elder Christensen (Presidency of the Seventy) and Elder Stacey (my personal favorite) where they both spoke! It was awesome! It was a YSA fireside, so they talked a lot about marriage and all that stuff.  It really was not applicable right now for us, but hey, it was still good! After, I was able to visit with Elder Stacey for a moment.  I asked Elder Stacey how Lake Nokomis was doing. He said good, but that they all miss me and talk about me still, so that made me feel really good! It was so fun to see him again! I will be excited when I can talk to all of them again :) We saw a lot of our peeps this week which is always fun! I am so grateful I have the opportunity to be serving "up north"!  I will forever cherish the time I have on my mission.
Love you all!

Hello all!

Not tons happened this week……oh wait; with the exception that Yammah and Gladys had their baptismal interviews and are good to go for the 17th!!!! We are so excited!

We went to ACBC with the Andover Elders. (Oldroyd and Dygert) We were given free chocolate milk and grapes.  That made us all pretty happy!

Sister Jolley and I taught the missionary Preach my Gospel class Sunday. Our lesson was on the Book of Mormon and the importance of the Book of Mormon in the gospel. We taught how it is the "keystone of our religion."

We went and saw a lot of people this week. Sister B. invited us over for dinner. It was so much fun to spend time with her and Pat.

Ha-ha!  Sister Jolley and I took ourselves to Texas Roadhouse for dinner because we have been working hard and wanted to treat ourselves. ha-ha. They sat us in the bar section. Our waitress came and her name was Ashley. Then she brought another server to help her, and her name was Ashlie! We had 2 waitresses whose names were both "Ashley and Ashlie" and they were serving Sister "Ashlee".  I thought it was kind of funny!

Just after we finished, the Andover Elders called us in a panic. They asked if we could drive up to Columbus. They were set up to go to a home for dinner with a lady. However, they were in a pickle because in order for them to be with a lady in her home, they needed us to meet the” rule of 3.” It was such a long drive but it was well worth it because it was fun and it was a really pretty drive.

Well I got to go I love you all to the Moonisota and Back!

Love,

Sister Ashlee Young
